Wellington 2013 - Project Science Meeting

The December 2013 MWA Project Meeting will be held in Wellington, NZ at the Victoria University of Wellington. The primary meeting will be 16-17 Dec 2013. The Board meeting will be immediately following on Wednesday, Dec. 18. Additional workshops may be planned around the meeting.

Abstract Submission

We are pleased to invite all members of the MWA community to submit talks to be presented at the meeting. For each submission, please send a title and short abstract via email to MWA Project Scientist, Judd Bowman (judd . bowman at asu . edu). We anticipate scheduling talks in 15-20 minute slots and have a number of slots open over the two-day meeting.

 

The deadline for receiving submissions is Wednesday, November 20, 2013. Notification of results will follow approximately one week later.

Submission are encouraged for all topics pertaining to the MWA, including (but not limited to) operation, performance, observations, calibration, data analysis, and science results.

Venue

The venue for the project meeting is the Victoria University of Wellington Kelburn Campus in the Laby Building on the ground floor room L118. The Kelburn campus is located up a fairly substantial hill / small mountain. If you enjoy a bit of a hike it can be reached by walking for approximately 20mins otherwise buses go to Kelburn Parade or the cable car can be used. An overview of the travel options from Wellington central including the possible walking route from Willis street in the CBD, available bus routes (numbers 22 and 18) and the cable car can be seen here

There are numerous pedestrian shortcuts from the city up to the university, most of these involve a series of steep stairs. For the fitter participants you can access a map of the shortcuts here

EoR Hackathon

EoR Hackathon will be held in Cotton 154. Cotton Building is located in grid 15h of the campus map.

Accommodation

Wellington has a wide range of hotels the attendees may consider. All hotels within the CBD area are within walking distance or transport to the Kelburn campus. VUW has university rates available for the Bolton Hotel, which is near to the Botanic Gardens, information on how to access these rates will be posted directly to the collaboration.

Meeting Dinner

The conference dinner will be on Tuesday 17th of December at St Johns Bar on the Wellington waterfront. The cost of the dinner will be NZ$65 which must be paid in cash to members of the LOC.

Meeting Excursion

For those people either arriving early or staying on we will arrnage an excursion to Zealandia.
